Mr. Farkas joined Wärtsilä in 2018, where his key role is providing market intelligence and strategic insights on business opportunities in Africa. By using best-in-class power system modelling tools, he works on several techno-economic studies for different African countries. He is dedicated to help developing countries improve their power supply mix by adding renewables, energy storage and flexible power generation to their asset portfolio.
Mr. Farkas started his professional career at Central-Eastern European Gas Exchange where he was focusing on market operation and commodity pricing. In 2014, he joined energy research and consulting firm Douglas-Westwood in Houston, Texas, where he was working on various merger and acquisition projects and provided support to the company’s oil and gas, LNG and offshore wind consulting practice. Following his time in the US, Mr. Farkas was working for MVM Group in Hungary, where he was responsible for natural gas deal structuring, contract negotiation and has started to prepare the company’s gas trading branch enter the LNG market. Mr. Farkas graduated from Budapest University of Technology and Economics, he holds master’s degrees in Energy Engineering and Business and Management.
